Nokia Scentsory (Concept Phone) Can Scent You
Wednesday, May 23, 2007
The Nokia Scentsory (a concept phone designed by Kimberly Hu) allows users to communicate remotely on additional sensory levels. In addition to including basic audio visual features, it can detect, transmit and emit smells. It can also radiate colors, lighting, and temperature from the caller’s environment. In addition, the Scentsory will have wellness aromatherapy and owner scent identification features.

Nanotechnology plays a key role in the development of this new device. Using sensors that have a sense of smell as sophisticated as a cat or dog, the electronic nose samples odor of caller/environs and transmits to recipient electronically via airways and odor releasing device.
Using additional heat, color and light sensors, the caller’s environmental elements can be transmitted: hot/cold can be felt on the exterior shell of the phone and lighting/colors can project on an interior screen on the recipient’s end.
