Vista has a bad open file dialog box

Saturday, April 7, 2007

(1) Open a file dialog box, for example in notepad, goto file, open menu.

(2) Rename any folder on the left pane

(3) Now look at the address bar

For some reason it seems the shell or explorer does not update the address bar and the right panel.

I've noticed some odd things as well about the vista cache. In some applications, configuration files, while completely deleted, still seem to be picked up by the application. (I'm thinking of VPC in this instance)

Also, I can reproduce an OpenFileDialog that consistently shows directories that haven't existed for hours.

Odd stuff afoot.

Similarly, I'm using sqliteman and istool gui programs. The consistently show old file content, while sqlite.exe and my text editor show correct content.

Any ideas?
