Yahoo releases Yahoo India Maps and Our City

Wednesday, April 25, 2007

Yahoo has released Yahoo India Maps that shows street level hybrid maps of all major Indian cities. Using the local maps you can search the local businesses such as restaurants, banks etc. The interface is sleek/fast than compared to any other maps service. The Map does not let you find directions though.

Yahoo Our City bring dynamic content such as local-city events, news, weather, blogs, photographs etc. The main page of the city page shows the city facts from wikipedia. The Y! Our City page shows 20 cities at the moment and new cities page are added over a period of time.

In my research so far... Local.live.com covers the Indian roads better than Google maps or Yahoo maps.

You may call me a consultant, but you can try on your own.

My personal favorite however is mapsofindia, but its very slow.
